DOHA’S NVBS TO SPONSOR TWO SHUTTLERS FOR GCC TOURNAMENTS

Doha: Doha-based New Vision Badminton Sport (NVBS) has adopted an innovative strategy to promote badminton in the country by sponsoring selected players at tournaments in the GCC countries.

During a recently-held selection trial at Alpha Cambridge School, Nishant Devendraraj Shenai and Mayukha Sreejesh were selected by the NVBS to receive the sponsorship to participate in the forthcoming tournaments across the GCC countries.

Nishant beat Rajathraj Ramesan 21-23, 21-19 & 21-18 while Mayukha beat Adlyn M Sojan 16-21, 21-10, 15-11 in the boys’ and girls’ finals respectively.

T S Sreenivas, General Secretary of Indian Sports Center under the aegis of the Embassy of India in Qatar, and Abdulrahman E P, Chairman & Managing Director, Care n Cure Group of Companies, graced the occasion.

“It’s an innovation to promote the sport and players in the country. We hope to encourage more youngsters in the country through our platform,” said NVBS chief coach Manoj Sahibjan.

In the boys’ singles final of the inter-house tournament, Shreyas Reddy Chilaka thrashed Rohit Janarthanan 21-10, 21-11 while Harshitha Venkatesh beat Niranjana Rajeev 21-9, 21-18 in the girls’ final.

In boys’ singles B final, Rohan Janarthanan beat EhanValeem 21-16, 21-14 while Andriya R Sojan beat Carol Bethany 21-9, 21-12 to win the girls’ title.

“Some of these players have potential. They’re talented and need exposure and the right grooming. Our aim is to help the players go to the next level,” said Sahibjan.

“The dedication, determination, and hard work besides the support of the parents reflected in their performances.”

All the winners and participants were awarded prizes and trophies by NVBS CEO Banazir Manoj.

NVBS is a badminton training academy for kids and adults located in Doha, Qatar with multiple training locations. It was founded in 2016 by Manoj Sahibjan, a national and international, and BWF-certified coach with many achievements, and Banazir Manoj who strongly believes in “LOVE ALL” which transformed as the tagline for NVBS and coincidentally is the call to action prior to starting a badminton game meaning 0-0. Inspired by what Banazir believes, Manoj Sahibjan decided to include Banazir’s face outline supplely in the NVBS logo. Together, they continue to manage NVBS to promote badminton providing a platform for students/players to champion the sport in Qatar and beyond.
