The New Vision Badminton Sport (NVBS) in Qatar has recruited Malaysian ex-junior International V Roobenraj as a coach to train players at the NVBS academy. The 22-year-old has joined NVBS for a year to train their junior shuttlers and to use the opportunity to further improve his own badminton skills as well as win an international title.
The Malaysian arrived in Doha on Sunday and was accorded a warm welcome by the NVBS coaches, support staff, and officials at Hamad International Airport.
Roobenraj, who is on a dual mission in Qatar, fits perfectly in NVBS plans as they aim to groom their trainees to be good badminton players in the country by 2030. He will join the NVBS coaches panel on October 19, informed NVBS Chief Coach Manoj Sahibjan.
“He is joining NVBS with a dual mission of being a coach for NVBS players as well as continuing his further badminton training under me as he aims to win an international title which has been his ambition,” said Sahibjan.
“NVBS created all the arrangements for his badminton training after his duty time. He had informed NVBS that his hobby and interest is to develop kids from beginner level to Intermediate level and from Intermediate level to advanced level,” he added.
Roobenraj was delighted to be in Doha and looking forward to taking his game to a new level in Qatar. “I am so excited at the prospect of playing and coaching a club in Qatar. I have high ambitions to be a world champion one day. This is the stepping stone for me to explore new frontiers in my game,” Roobenraj said – The Malaysian Indian Badminton Association gave him a send-off for Roobenraj ahead of his trip to Qatar and wished him all the best in the successful completion of his dual mission.
