SADHVI NOTCHES A DOUBLE AT QATAR TOURNAMENT

Sadhvi Krishna Sunil of New Vision Badminton Academy notched a double at the Star Sports Aeroplane Qatar Open Badminton tournament by clinching the Under-15 and Under-17 titles at the four-day championship held at the Gems American Academy, Al Wakrah. Sadhvi edged Joan Mary Thomas, also a trainee of New Vision Badminton Academy, in both categories. In the Under-15 final, Sadhvi defeated Mary 21-14, 21-11 and in the Under-17, she got past her opponent with a scoreline of 21-19, 21-4.

A host of players from the academy shone in different age categories.

In the Under-9 category, the academy trainees finished as runners-up in boys’ singles and girls’ singles. In the Under-11, the academy players took the second runner-up spot in the boy’s singles and runners-up in the girl’s singles. In the Under-13, the second runner-up in the boy’s singles went to the academy cadets while the Under-15 girls final featured both the academy trainees. Coaches Manoj Sahibjan and Kesit Sutrisno were delighted with the performance of their players in the tournament. The two coaches, who have been into coaching for the last several years, reiterated that the success of players would not have been possible without the sincere co-operation of parents. “It’s New Vision’s Badminton Academy objective to ensure that new talents are groomed to international standards ensuring quality and utmost attention at their coaching facilities in Cambridge School in Abu Hamour and American Academy in Al Thumama,” said Sahibjan.

NVBS is a badminton training academy for kids and adults located in Doha, Qatar with multiple training locations. It was founded in 2016 by Manoj Sahibjan, a national and international, and BWF-certified coach with many achievements, and Banazir Manoj who strongly believes in “LOVE ALL” which transformed as the tagline for NVBS and coincidentally is the call to action prior to starting a badminton game meaning 0-0. Inspired by what Banazir believes, Manoj Sahibjan decided to include Banazir’s face outline supplely in the NVBS logo. Together, they continue to manage NVBS to promote badminton providing a platform for students/players to champion the sport in Qatar and beyond.
